Dean of Students

The Orme School is seeking a Dean of Students for the 2024/2025 school year. The Dean of Students works closely with the Dean of Academics and Director of Residential Life to lead the efforts to build and maintain a strong, positive, community-oriented school culture. This position manages the behavior programs for the school and models how to establish strong, mutually respectful relationships with students and families. This position is a visible presence in all areas of the school and is responsible for all issues relating to the well-being of the students during their time at the school. The most important aspect of this position is the disciplinary portion, where a firm but fair approach is essential, taking into account the many different sides of any situation and making a definitive, timely decision on each matter.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supports teachers to resolve differences in communication with parents and students
• Address faculty and parental concerns about behavioral issues with all involved parties
• Organizes and executes student academic and behavior support
• Maintains student discipline and follows through with documentation in FACTS
• Communicates and meets with parents regarding student performance and/or conduct as required
• Participates in all faculty and staff meetings
• Oversees the weekly Student Review Committee meetings
• Teach a reduced timetable of classes in your specialization (Humanities preferred)
• Acting as the Administrator on Duty one night a week and one weekend a month

  Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors required (Masters preferred)
  • 3-5 years administrative experience in a school setting (independent and boarding preferred)
  • Behavior management or relevant experience preferred
