Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the General Laborer will be responsible to ensure the achievement of general and specific project requirements.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Move materials and equipment and perform demolition, excavation, and compaction activities.
  • Prepare and clean up construction sites.
  • Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g., load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment, and construction. materials; move tools, equipment, and construction materials to and from work areas; remove rubble and other debris).
  • Excavate, backfill, and compact subgrade (e.g., move and level earth using shovels and rakes).
  • Pulling and/or fishing cables through conduits.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights with ladders or bucket truck (training will be provided).
  • Comfortable with working with hand tools (drills, grinders, etc).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Hands on Training and Orientation:

  • An introduction to Aecon, our industry, and telecommunication work.
  • All requisite health and safety training.
  • Valuable job-specific skills training.
  • Preparing for work on site and job readiness training.

The opportunity to:

  • Complete client's site-specific training as required.
  • Successful candidates will be provided with all requisite training.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Experience working in a similar role within the industry.
  • A team player who actively contributes to the group to complete tasks, meet goals or manage project timelines.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract annually.
  • Capacity to lift and work with materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain.
  • Capacity to work long hours per day in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
