Minimum Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
  • Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
  • No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) AND two (2) years' related experience OR High school diploma or general education degree (GED) AND certification in Graphic Design, Photography, or related field AND one (1) year of related experience OR Associate's degree (A.A. or A.S.) in Graphic Design, Photography, or related field. Related experience to include: photography, graphics/graphic design, and/or latent print imaging.
  • Must have valid Florida driver's license. Must attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training if assignment includes driving an agency vehicle. Use of agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing agency biennial driver's physical exam.
  • Ability to perform various types of photography to include aerial and latent print photography.
  • Ability to assist in latent print photography of evidence that has been chemically processed and may contain biological hazards; process latent print photographs; create 1:1 digital prints.
  • Ability to edit digital images and create graphic designs using a computer and specialized software.
  • Ability to process and examine photographs of a sensitive nature, such as scenes of death and evidence of traumatic injury or physical abuse.
  • Ability to print agency photographs and copy surveillance videos to fulfill requests from the State Attorney's Office.
  • Ability to maintain crime scene photographs and negatives prior to implementation of digital database.
  • Ability to prepare, edit, print, and mount case related photographs and/or maps.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work activity related to investigations. File, copy, and store duplicates of all evidentiary surveillance videos.
  • Ability to assist Graphic Designer with special projects (photographing, editing, and printing) as needed.
  • Ability to photograph and process a variety of public relations images, including agency events, portraits, and group photos.
  • Ability to clean and maintain photography equipment and photo printers.
  • Ability to instruct both agency personnel and individuals from outside agencies on photography techniques. Testify as an expert court witness regarding the processing of the latent images.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills and be able to establish and maintain positive, cooperative working relationships.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills to include word processing, database applications (i.e., DataWorks), and image/graphics editing software (i.e., Photoshop).
  • Must understand basic digital photography equipment and procedures. Must have working knowledge of court proceedings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to fly in all types of agency aircrafts in order to take aerial photographs without the propensity towards airsickness or flying phobias.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is usually a standard office setting with a moderate noise level. The employee will regularly be required to attend special events outside the agency. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals or hazardous biological materials; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock, and vibration. When occasionally fulfilling aerial photography duties (agency plane or helicopter), the noise level in the work environment is extremely loud.
