What will I do in this position if hired?


In this position, you will perform emergency management work including managing, coordinating, and executing Federal emergency all-hazards preparedness activities with Federal and State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial partners.


Typical assignments include:


Identifying and assessing risk; estimating capability requirements; building and sustaining capabilities; planning to deliver capabilities; validating capabilities; and reviewing and updating plans, capabilities, and resources to ensure they remain relevant.

Identifying risk reduction opportunities, methods to reduce future risks, and the development and maintenance of hazard mitigation plans, procedures, and assessments.

Supporting implementation of FEMA's Recovery Programs, to include the development of housing strategies, cost recovery planning, debris planning, and ensuring the appropriate implementation and rapid closeout of Public Assistance grants.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.

All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
