You will join a global company that has been growing successfully since its founding in 1945. Together, we lead and leave a positive impact on societies, companies and people around the world.
You will join our Water/Wastewater Treatment Department
As our new Design Engineer you will be part of a team dedicated to working with municipalities and utilities to deliver a wide range of water-related projects; from preliminary studies to following projects through design and construction. The candidate will be joining a highly successful team providing full service municipal drinking water and wastewater solutions service within the Mid-Atlantic region while collaborating with other offices and teams throughout Ramboll North America.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Work effectively in a team setting and directly communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Create, modify and/or calibrate hydraulic water and/or sewer distribution models. Analyze hydraulic model results and present information to the lead engineer or project manager.
- Execute engineering design tasks of various complexities. Assist in the development of preliminary reports, design drawings, technical specifications and front-end contractual documents under minimal supervision. Analyze and interpret survey, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, water quality data and other analytical data to plan and design water/wastewater treatment facilities, storage tanks and pump stations.
- Prepare and at times present reports or analysis such as design calculations, field data results/conclusions and/or cost estimates. Presentation audiences may include other design team members, the project manager, or an external stakeholder.
- Assist in the coordination of work with other engineering and/or environmental disciplines to develop design deliverables.
- Provide support for construction projects, including review of shop drawings and responding to RFI's.
- Support the preparation of proposals, fee estimates, purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
- Delegate basic tasks to other team members.
- Participate in the quality review process of work products developed by others and take ownership of providing quality work to the lead engineer or project manager.
- Coordinate work on multiple projects to maintain project objectives and timelines.
- Regularly communicate task status to the lead engineer or project manager.
- Advanced understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Basic knowledge of Ramboll's Project Model and financial reporting system.
- Occasional field activities may be required.

- Knowledge of water and/or wastewater treatment engineering and design fundamentals.
- Competent understanding of pressure and gravity system hydraulics.
Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:
- Adhere to the policies and standards set forth in the Firm's Quality Management System.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Work effectively as part of a team located in various office locations.
- Desire for continuous improvement.
