Overview


This position will develop, monitor, and execute on strategies to influence the profit and growth of the Retail Commercial Multi-Peril (CMP) lines of business: Business Owners Policy (BOP) and Commercial Package.

The role will focus on enabling and analyzing production and profit data, competitor behaviors, third party data, and underwriting analysis to monitor and understand core drivers of business.

Will partner with senior leaders to formulate and execute on product, pricing, underwriting and risk management strategies in collaboration with field sales, underwriting, actuarial, claims and analytics business partners.


Responsibilities

  • Accountable for achieving / exceeding revenue and income targets for Commercial Multi-Peril lines of business.
  • Responsible for quantitative and qualitative post monitoring of major product and pricing initiatives. Highlight opportunity areas for adjustments.
  • Facilitate execution of enterprise strategies at a state and regional level through strong engagement with regional sales & underwriting teams.
  • Guide development of annual financial plan/budget for CMP lines, monitor areas of variance from planned targets, and develop plans to close gaps.
  • Develop and implement monitoring standards to assess business results such as profitability analysis, exposure and aggregation analysis, initiative post-monitoring, claims trends, etc. to understand root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Drive a deep understanding of marketplace insights, competitive intelligence, and regulatory issues to inform solutions (product, rate/price, appetite, terms and conditions)
  • Influences, collaborates, and makes recommendations to product leaders and field partners on business strategies. Initiates and drives strategies based on analysis of data and market insights with input from business partners.
  • Presents findings of analysis and partners with leaders to provide strategic overviews to senior management on a routine basis.
  • Provides guidance to the development of workflow practices across Product Management that reduce redundancy and establish consistency.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of the Property and Casualty Insurance industry.
  • Expert understanding of products, pricing strategies, coverage, underwriting, regulatory environments, and insurance financials.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Personal Lines or Commercial Lines Product (Management or Development), Pricing and/or Underwriting in a comparable role is required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a discipline requiring critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Masters degree beneficial.
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills, including the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes, and solutions.
  • Strong comfort level with data and SQL beneficial.
  • Adept at multi-tasking and able to apply critical thinking to complex problems.
  • Working knowledge of Pricing and Actuarial techniques.
  • Comfort level with presentation and relationship management skills with an emphasis on customer focus, collaboration and partnering to obtain results.
  • Able to effectively conduct competitor analysis & gain an in-depth understanding of market dynamics including competitor underwriting initiatives, rate level analysis, forms analysis as well as economic trends & emerging issues in the market.
  • Solution-oriented individual with ability to think strategically and implement change
  • Experience pursuing long-term goals while balancing the short-term needs of the organization.
  • Solid knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
