Recovery Specialist Lead

Site: Latitudes Minnesota, LGBTQ Residential Facility in St. Paul, MN

Shift: First Shift - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Pay: $20.50/hr DOE + up with shift differential for evenings and weekends

Job purpose

In conjunction with the Recovery Specialist Supervisor, this position will assist in the supervision and facilitate day-to day activities such as transportation and provide training of new Recovery Specialist staff. To help the clients have a positive and successful recovery by making sure the client understands their responsibilities in the program and giving guidance when needed. This job also includes aiding RS supervisor with daily assigned tasks.

Duties and responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Assist with daily activities of clients
  • Lead and facilitate day-to-day activities, such as transportation
  • Provide training of new staff
  • To transport clients for admission, discharge, medical appointment, etc.
  • To provide orientation to new clients and check in personal property.
  • Will provide for the safety of the clients by monitoring their whereabouts by making rounds including all areas described in the Program Abuse Prevention Plan and overnight bed checks.
  • Complete a DAANES reports as directed.
  • Interact with clients whenever possible.
  • Attend shift change report meetings.
  • Chart interaction with clients and observations made in client's record.
  • Attend staff meetings and In-service trainings.
  • Distribute medications and other duties as directed and as assigned by Nurse Manager.
  • Paraprofessionals may not admit, transfer, or discharge clients. They may be directed to follow through with the process of implementation of the above by the director or designee.
  • To include aiding RS supervisor with daily tasks.

Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Have the ability to work independently.
  • Possess a valid driver license in good standing.
  • The ability to drive a vehicle continuously for up to three hours.
  • The ability to lift and move objects weighing a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Must know and understand all rules, regulations, and requirements of the assigned program.
  • Minimum of one year continuing freedom from chemical use problems.
  • CPR and first aid certified.
  • On-going training on of cultural awareness and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values.
  • Computer literate.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Ability

  • Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
  • Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities
  • Computer skills to draft emails, memos, and reporting
