We are seeking a Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence Developer to join the growing Bright Horizons Enterprise Data & Analytics team. Bright Horizons is a leading global education and care company. The data team centered around the mission of providing a best-in-class experience for our products and customers. This team is primarily focused on data engineering to support our Product teams and Enterprise teams including our clients and vendors. This position focuses on supporting Datawarehouse platform and requires strong technical skills and a bias toward collaboration.

What you will be doing:

The Data Engineer will be primarily responsible for building/updating existing Data Warehouse. The DW/BI Developer will play a key role in the data analysis and new development efforts and is also responsible for the day-to-day support of the BH's backend databases. The responsibilities related to this role include operational support for all ETL and data processes, internal reports/ dashboards and external client facing reports, systems and applications including the BH's data warehouse. The Data Engineer will coordinate with various teams, including Application Development and System Engineering to design stable and reliable databases and ETL processes. The developer is expected to assist and contribute towards the migration of SQL Datawarehouse to Cloud Datawarehouse (Snowflake).

  • Design, develop and implement robust and efficient data pipelines (ETLs) to integrate data from a variety of sources into Data Warehouse to support key business partners.
  • Understand the business requirements, functional specs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Work with product owners, product managers, and software engineers; lead your squad to implement high-quality, production-grade data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation including procedures, best practices, user guides, schema, physical layout and data flows, object references, data dictionary, repository, and so on.
  • Strong debugging skills to provide production support with the ability to easily and quickly read and modify existing code and maintain existing systems by researching and trouble-shooting any issues/problems in a timely manner.
  • Review test scripts as part of all functional specifications to ensure that testing occurs to meet all business requirements including all process components as well as client, center, and program configurations.
  • Performance tuning and optimization and supporting scheduled ETL jobs on daily basis.
  • Contribute and support the existing Datawarehouse to Snowflake cloud Datawarehouse.
  • Able to work on data pipelines and modern ways of automating data pipeline using cloud-based testing and clearly document implementations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with dependent infrastructure and Azure services to implement Snowflake integration with services, such as Azure Data Lake Storage.

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Technology or related field experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server Environment with ETL development and BI Reporting tools and visualizations.
  • Expertise in designing ETL frameworks with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in implementing several aspects of data pipelines including ingestion, transformation, data quality checks, monitoring, alerts, notifications etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL queries, SQL Server BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS & SSAS). Experience in Qlik/Power BI is a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience in Informatica IDMC Cloud Data Integration (CDI).
  • 3+ years' experience of data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling)
  • Good understanding of enterprise data management concepts (Data Governance, Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Data Sharing, Data Applications)
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently. An analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Experience working with code repositories and continuous integration.
  • Experience working with cloud data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake (preferred) and BigQuery.
  • Familiarity in Data Migration to Snowflake cloud data warehouse.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake Snowpipes, Snow Tasks, Airflow, Secure Data Sharing, and dynamic data masking.
  • Experience with cloud services on Microsoft Azure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaboration with both onshore and offshore development teams
  • Preferred skills: Qlik Sense/Power BI, Airflow, Informatica IDMC (CDI, MI) & GCP BigQuery

**This is a Newton, MA Hybrid position.
