Translator Position Summary:
Serves as a translator for Johns Hopkins Health System. Translates documents, such as patient education material, hospital forms, patient letters/medical records and marketing materials, from English to target foreign language for Johns Hopkins Health System. Translates foreign language materials such as articles, correspondence and patient letters.
Translator Key Accountabilities:
- Excellent command and comprehension, both verbal and written of English and target language into which he/she is translating.
- Advanced knowledge of cultural standards and customs of the international region to understand colloquialisms and slang words.
- Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required.
- Advanced knowledge of MS applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) required. C. Skills:
- Ability to work effectively and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.
Work Schedule: Day shift, casual/on-call
Work Location: Baltimore, MD
Translator Qualifications:
- One (1) year of previous experience working in a hospital or health related setting required.
- B. A. or B. S. Required. Master's in Linguistics or Translations Preferred or ATA Certified.
- Knowledge of general hospital policies and procedures and familiarity with patient medical care, and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
