Position Specific Description

The Power Delivery Diagnostic Center (PDDC) team is seeking a strong engineering candidate to lead them on the journey to implement a new Relay Management System, operationalize Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their asset health monitoring tools, and smart grid equipment maintenance programs. The Lead Project Manager will develop strategies and lead cross-functional teams to help Power Delivery execute more field tasks remotely, including automating NERC Protection and Control maintenance.

The PDDC is responsible for supporting field operations and control center teams for all of Power Delivery in the safe and effective monitoring and restoration of the grid. Remote diagnostics and smart grid equipment settings implementation performed by the team to identify emerging system reliability related conditions, and execute work from a centralized location, allows field resources to focus on true field needs.

The PDDC Lead Project Manager works closely with business unit subject matter experts and technology development teams to ideate and develop new applications and tools to monitor, alert, and mitigate conditions and improve reliability of our Transmission, Substation and Distribution equipment fleet. Employees in this job are considered subject matter experts in the equipment asset health monitoring, smart grid, and Power Delivery outage restoration processes and tools, making important decisions and recommendations on PDDC operations and work processes. This role assists in driving the development of new IT tools via Agile Methodologies and helping train PDDC Engineers.

Job Overview

Employees in this role lead multiple cross-functional project teams consisting of matrixed or direct reporting relationships to meet or exceed Transmission and Substation safety, reliability, financial and schedule goals while ensuring compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements for assigned company projects. Individuals generate product schedules based on stakeholder input and maintain adherence to them to meet in service dates. This position is responsible for reviewing actual spend compared to forecast spend based on project schedule progress for assigned projects.

• Develops and updates project schedules, budget forecasts, and cash flows

• Mentors and trains other project managers, project engineers, or construction leads

• Leads meetings associated with assigned projects

• Assesses potential Transmission and Substation projects for feasibility

• Communicates project specifications to internal and external personnel at all levels

• Manages multiple complex projects successfully at any given time

• Acts as project sponsor for Total Safety Culture for assigned project teams

• Meets attendance and storm duty requirements

• Works extended hours, as needed
