Position Summary

This position is responsible for developing and managing Environmental Health and Safety requirements and programs and overall facility management. This position reports to Head of Operations.

Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Delegating cleaning and maintenance tasks to team members
  • Monitoring the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots and outdoor recreation spaces
  • Performing routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs as needed
  • Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors
  • Ensuring proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors or a team of security professionals
  • Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions
  • Collaborating with building owners and upper management on budgeting for facilities needs
  • Develops and owns Environmental Health & Safety program, end to end
  • Develops annual company health and safety goals
  • Supports corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards
  • Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Assists in creating corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals) in coordination with Training Specialist
  • Facilitates and oversees facility planning and management activities
  • Develop and lead the safety committee, safety programs, and awareness
  • Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports
  • Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for safety and health considerations
  • Understands and advises of federal and state occupational health and safety regulations and monitors regulatory changes
  • Audit production records to ensure compliance with company programs and state/federal occupational health and safety regulations
  • Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker's compensation claims
  • Reviews safety and incident reports and follow up as necessary
  • Maintains an active role in continuous improvement project teams
  • Responsible for reporting on EHS metrics, facility utilization and related metrics on a regular basis
  • Read and interpret training documents, safety rules, blueprints, safety data sheets, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedural documents
  • Communicate clearly and professionally via email or other forms of written communication
  • Calculate figures and measurements and quickly perform simple calculations while performing tasks related to specific work parts
  • Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; applying reason to facility planning and similar tasks

Management Responsibilities

This position manages one employee, with potential of managing more in the future.

Physical Attributes

  • Observe and hear warning signs and signals within all areas of the company
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
  • Operate machinery with moving parts
  • Wear all required PPE including: synthetic gloves for hygiene reasons, protective eye wear and protective hearing gear

Work Enviornment

  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment.
  • May occasionally be exposed to dust
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Fast-paced, team environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of Microsoft Office experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Safety Officer and Radiation Safety Officer experience
  • 2+ years of Environmental Health Safety (EHS) experience or formal EHS training (e.g. OSHA 30)
