The Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty Care Services Manager functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.

They are the designated first-line supervisory authority and are responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.

They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.

They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.

They maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards as they are applied to the Specialty Care Services offered that include but are not limited to Urology, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Otolaryngology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Dermatology, Oncology, and General Surgical services.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components.

Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.

Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and participating in innovative process improvement initiatives.

Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.

Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.
Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team.

Leads and organizes delivery of care to ensure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice in alignment with the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Nursing Practice.

Manages workload as assigned, organizes, and completes own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner.
Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers.
Has knowledge of population characteristics including cultural, ethnic, gender and religious diversity. He/she must have knowledge of family dynamics, psychotherapy, developmental theory and interpersonal relationships and systems approach to clinical care.
Serves as a preceptor or field instructor for students and employees in orientation.
Utilizes systematic data collection, aggregation, analysis, and reporting techniques to achieve concurrent compliance review of identified quality/patient safety metrics
Reviews computerized patient record system (CPRS) for flagged documentation to review and sign-off.
Rounds on unit frequently throughout the day.
Reviews staffing for appropriate levels and assignments.
Resolves issues with staffing with Team Leader.
Reviews morning report sheet data related to appointments scheduled, open clinic slots and pending consults.
Manages and supervises all nursing personnel and support staff as assigned.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
Guides, develops, and supports staff from a leadership perspective.
Demonstrates strong decision making and critical thinking skills.
Utilizes Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

All other duties as assigned, pertaining to this occupation, to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service.
