Perelman Jewish Day School is seeking a Director of Technology who is innovative, creative, collaborative, and hands-on. The Director of Technology will establish, plan, and administer long and short-term technology goals and policies, while also overseeing the day-to-day technical support needs of the organization.

The Director of Technology will report to the Director of Finance and Operations with support from the Head of School, and the Director of Technology will work closely with all members of the school's Senior Leadership Team. The Director of Technology will supervise all members of the Technology Department.

The ideal candidate for this role is not only technically proficient, but also has a strong love of learning, a desire to work in a school environment, is a team player, and has the curiosity to dive in and solve many complex problems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, vision, and day-to-day management of the Technology Department, including data network and backup systems, firewall and security issues, databases, servers, printers and peripherals, and telephone systems. Develop a strategic and long-range technology plan for the school. Build, supervise, and lead a diverse team of technology professionals to meet the needs of a two campus school with 320 students and 90 faculty and staff. Manage vendor relationship with outsourced technology vendor, who is responsible for analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting all centralized infrastructure including servers, storage, and networking. Develop and manage the school's technology budget, thinking strategically about all decisions, resources, and project timelines Identify, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging technologies for classroom and administrative uses or to improve the current infrastructure Assess, anticipate, and respond to technology needs voiced by faculty, administration, students, and staff Supervise Educational Technology Coordinator and partner with the Academic Leadership Team, promote the use of technology to support classroom learning and optimize student achievement In collaboration with the Communications Department, oversee the technical side of the school's web content platform Supervise Database Manager and partner with school leadership to most effectively manage and utilize the school's various databases Supervise Technology Support Specialist, who partners with the full Technology Team, to quickly and effectively respond to Help Desk requests via phone, in-person, and online software Develop written, electronic, and physical means to enforce policies, procedures, and practices that protect School, public, and individual rights Design, develop, implement, and administer security measures to restrict unauthorized or inappropriate use of Information Technology resources and the data therein entrusted Manage inventory of all school-owned or leased equipment including laptops, iPads, interactive boards, projectors, copiers, printers, etc. Manage vendor relations, procurement, installation, and implementation of various technologies and information systems Plan and supervise internal and external training of the school's staff Work closely with students, their teachers, and their parents to ensure students are using technology appropriately and effectively Maintain an active role in educational technology communities including those within NAIS, PAIS, Prizmah, ATLIS, and other school networks Job Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field (information technology, computer science, systems management, or related discipline); Master's degree preferred 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of information systems Demonstrated success in a supervisory/management role, including ability to manage and develop a diverse team Current and in-depth knowledge of network architecture; telecommunication; wireless, mobile, and cloud technologies Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent written and verbal Familiarity with applicable laws and regulations as they relate to information and tech issues Detail-oriented Strong organizational, technical, and analytical skills Ability to work collaboratively and independently Demonstrate flexibility and prioritize multiple tasks Understands budgets and forecasts Ability to adapt communication based upon recipient knowledge level Proven success developing and balancing an annual budget Professional technical certifications from Apple, Google, CompTIA, etc., preferred Experience with Blackbaud or other learning management and database systems Perelman Jewish Day School provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. Compensation for this position ranges from $100,000 to $115,000 annually and will be prorated based on start date; compensation is commensurate with experience, and includes a competitive benefits package. Paid time off includes Jewish and secular holidays, two lengthy school vacations, and additional PTO. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, FSA, 403(b), and tuition remission. This is a 12-month, in person position. The school day at Perelman runs from 8:20 am - 3:30 pm and the expectation for administrators is that they are minimally here from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Tuesday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Mondays, and 8:00 am - 2:45 pm on Fridays in the winter months. As an administrator, the times can and will vary depending on day and workload and this should be discussed regularly with your supervisor. Administrators also have late duty responsibilities from time to time.
