The Department of Operational Support (DOS) provides end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to the operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices-away-from-headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions.

The Capacity Development Operational Training Service (CDOTS) provides operational training, including training on enterprise resource management system and leads as the main facilitator of business process management activities in the UN Secretariat.

The Business Processes and Systems Support Section (BPSSS) is responsible for working with clients and stakeholders to develop the processes and structures by which policies will be implemented across the Secretariat and to ensure that these are reflected in enterprise systems.

It also provides training on Umoja, Inspira and other business applications related to resources management.

This position is located in the Business Processes and Systems Support Section (BPSSS), Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS), Office of Support Operations (OSO), Department of Operational Support (DOS).

The Training Officer will coordinate the training programmes in support of the all assigned functional area, including the design and delivery of Umoja certification courses with the emphasis on eLearning solutions.

The incumbent reports to the Chief of BPSSS/CDOTS.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Chief of the Systems Training Unit will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Coordinates the design, development, delivery and evaluation of Umoja training, learning and capacity development programmes for the assigned functional area, to support mandate implementation.
  • Analyzes training plans for enterprise resource management systems to ensure that they are consistent with the overall organizations goals, policies on staff development and effective provision of operational services, and the respective mandates.
  • Designs and evaluates assigned training programmes and projects; monitors training programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions.
  • Identifies and analyzes staff development needs through training surveys and data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares training recommendations.
  • Coordinates the assigned training programmes as a part of organizational learning programmes with a specific focus on capacity development needs for sustained end-user performance.
  • Evaluates effectiveness and impact of developed training programmes and recommends ways to enhance their effectiveness and impact.
  • Coordinates training workshops, in collaboration with the client, including the Training of Trainers events for the successful implementation of assigned training programmes.
  • Promotes the use of e-Learning and knowledge management platforms for developing and delivering on-line training programmes.
  • Initiates and coordinates outreach activities; conducts blended training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned training topics/activities.
  • Supervises the assigned staff and consultants as necessary for performing training activities.
  • Provides inputs into the preparation and monitoring of the section training budget.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as required.

Experience working with an ERP Systems such as SAP, Umoja or similar is desirable. Experience working with a talent management software such as PeopleSoft, Inspira or similar is desirable.

Languages
