Job Description
The Department of English at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Film Studies and U.S. Literature with a secondary area in queer theory to begin January 1, 2025. The ideal candidate will have a desire to be actively engaged in the curricular development of our growing minor in Cinema and Media Studies. This position can expect to contribute to the department's undergraduate and graduate programs and will have opportunities to participate in the university's Core Humanities Program and interdisciplinary race and ethnic, gender and sexuality, Indigenous, and global studies programs as appropriate.
The teaching load will include undergraduate and graduate courses. This position will typically have a 2/2 load for candidates who teach and mentor graduate students and engage in scholarly research.
Required Qualifications
A completed Ph.D. in English, Film Studies, or closely related discipline. Must have degree by January 1, 2025
Expectation of active and promising research agenda.
Experience and promise as an excellent teacher.
Ability to teach courses and pursue a research agenda in Film Studies, U.S. Literature, and queer theory.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated track record of campus programming or community engagement including experience developing curriculum.
Demonstrated attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and/or service.
