Job Summary:

Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, supporting and deploying agency computer infrastructure, such as servers, computing devices, network devices, access control, and physical security systems. Work includes various specialized hardware and software platforms, desktop operating systems, server operating systems, mobile operating systems, Office 365, and the agency's threat mitigation software package, located on-premises and in the cloud. This position will work closely with other members of the IT team to achieve the overall mission of the agency and its strategic goals. Provides guidance in all matters related to IT infrastructure; Leads projects to install, upgrade or reconfigure servers and other hardware. Sets precedent within limits and/or administers operating rules and procedures under management guidance. Performs advanced troubleshooting or analysis; applies technology or business approaches in new ways; develops and recommends new alternatives. Frequent interaction to provide detailed procedural explanations or technical responses and/or occasional contact with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve hardware or software related issues.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

· Provide advance technical hardware and software support in the areas of server computing across a diverse hardware and software landscape, including but not limited to Windows Server OS, VMWare and Office 365

· Install, configure and monitor physical and virtual servers for items such as backup failures, fault remediation and performance tuning, as well as maintain an active security patching schedule for all servers.

· Provide regular statistical reporting on server patching success rate, backup statistics, etc.

· Assess and maintain server architecture diagrams and lifeycle plans

· Provide advanced support for Active Directory, including domain controller replication, managing group policy and AD integration to other software platforms, both on premises and cloud.

· Support and monitor the agency's access control, and physical security systems for indicators of pre or post hardware or software failures, and work with internal staff and/or outside vendors to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.

· Create and update user documentation and guides and technical documentation including setup guides, guides for repairing uncommon issues, and other repair procedures.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

· Associates Degree or equivalent work experience

· 5 years with supporting end users in a diverse hardware and software landscape

· 4 years with supporting complex segmented IP networks

· 2 years configuring and troubleshooting video surveillance, access control, and physical security systems

Certification/license

MTA or other Windows Server administration certification

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems, such as WIndows 10, 11 and Server 2016 and higher
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc. in a large multi-site environment.

· Displayed competency in Windows PowerShell

· Experience with VMWare virtualized platforms

· Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively.

· Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines.

· Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.

· Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.

· Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis.
