Corning Optical Communications LLC seeks Controls Scientist/Engineer to work in Hickory, NC.

Analyze user requirements, process design, & mechanical equipment design to create controls architecture for automated manufacturing systems; define/perform experiments to develop process technologies & solutions; translate process requirements into controls designs & methodologies to ensure process quality; develop robust code to deliver desired functionality from equipment under development; & create intuitive Human Machine Interfaces on PC-based platforms to deliver desired level of control & feedback from machines & testing apparatus.

Up to 50% domestic & international (Poland, Mexico) travel. Requires Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related. 3 yrs. exp. producing detailed definitions & documentation of controls system architecture for automation processes. 3 yrs. exp.

w/:
supporting controls system implementation from concept design to manufacturing deployment; Beckhoff PLC, HMI, & Motion Control automation software; writing controls logic & configuring controls networks; selecting & configuring compatible controls hardware to construct controls systems; & preparing controls drawings using computer-aided design software (i.e. AutoCAD).
