The Librarian is committed to providing and developing quality services, resources, and programming to the students in Grades 5 - 12, as well as support to faculty. The Librarian will report to the Middle and Upper School Division Heads. Ideal candidates are committed to girls' education. They possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, collegiality, flexibility, and humor. In addition, the librarian shows a passion and commitment to books, educational technology, and research. Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the library, including the acquisition and development of its collection, circulation, digital resources, and online databases
  • Work closely with the faculty to support the development of students' library and research skills through curriculum integration and development
  • Teach inquiry, citation-based research, and technology lessons to Middle and Upper School students
  • Teach Middle and Upper School students and faculty how to use library resources, including information and digital literacy tools, offering workshops and individual guidance
  • Foster a love and appreciation for books and literature
  • Manage archive collection, including cataloging, search, and retrieval
  • Advise a group of middle or upper school students Interested applicants should send an email and a cover letter to the email address indicating how they learned of the position. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Library Science or equivalent degree required; Master's degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program preferred
Applicants should have a working knowledge of Follett Destiny or similar library management software Applicants should be familiar with research databases such as Gale, Encyclopedia Britannica, JSTOR, and Salem Press Commitment to professional development Knowledge of and fluency with emerging technologies Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices for teaching information literacy and collaborating with faculty to develop and lead inquiry-based research projects Advanced search and research skills using proprietary databases, with expertise in bibliographic instruction Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community Ability to run the Yearbook club is a plus
