Fermentation Operator III
Working under the supervision of the Fermentation Departmental Superintendent, the full-time Operator III's responsibilities require the ability to perform various duties in an industrial environment and include, but are not limited to the following items.
- Add or mix chemicals and ingredients for processing, using hand tools or other devices.
- Clean and maintain equipment in a safe and orderly condition.
- Collect samples of materials or products for laboratory testing.
- Interpret laboratory data and make necessary adjustments to operate within established parameters.
- Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery and equipment for processing.
- Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually, in order to ensure conformance to established standards.
- Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Operate chemical processing equipment, i.e., pumps, valves, agitators, pressure vessels, etc ., in a safe and efficient manner.
- Read work orders, Standard Operating Procedures, directions, and guidelines to determine production specifications and information.
- Determine chemical amounts using basic mathematics for making up tanks.
- Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment and hand tools as needed.
- All duties performed must follow ADM and OSHA safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Quality Assurance (QA) specifications.
- Ability to read, write and scheduling.
- Computer literacy, i.e., keyboarding and mouse use.
- Ability to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to drive a forklift.
- Ability to work at high heights.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Knowledge and experience in an industrial environment is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check.
