Job Description:

As Mars Pet Nutrition embarks on its growth transformation, we're prioritizing the pet parent in everything we do. The Category Leadership Director is key to this transformation, leading a team to drive category management excellence and maximize retail impact. This role is vital for developing and executing category strategies, building strategic retail partnerships, and ensuring that category performance aligns with our broader business objectives.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
  • Preferred: MBA or advanced degree.
  • 10+ years in CPG category management
  • Proven success in leading and managing teams, with a strong track record of building and nurturing talent and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and scale category management strategies, tools, and methodologies.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex topics to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to set a compelling vision for the team, aligning category management initiatives and strategy with business goals.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Drive Shopper Insights and Category Thought Leadership: Lead the global shopper insights agenda and leverage a synthesis of research and trends to shape our vision for the category and 'retail of the future.' Leverage shopper based design principles to inform a clear picture of success.Build Global Category Capability: Develop tools and frameworks that can be scaled across regions, enhancing category management practices and execution. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for category strategies. Lead change management efforts to facilitate the smooth adoption of new processes, tools, and methodologies, ensuring effective communication to maximize engagement.Build Effective Partnerships: Manage key global and regional relationships to support the global category leadership strategy. Spearhead quarterly community calls, team meetings, and communications plans to foster collaboration. Create and maintain strategic relationships with key global retail partners.Best in Class Measurement: Lead the deployment of Perfect Store globally and other signature tools and processes to measure capability, the strength of our trade relationships, and compliance to support excellence in execution.Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of associates, cultivating a high-trust, diverse, and collaborative culture. Coach and develop the team to achieve overall goals, and support talent acquisition efforts to build a strong and capable central category leadership team.
