General Responsibilities

The Manager for Programs & Schools is a full-time contract position responsible for the development and delivery of relevant, diversified programs to girls in grades 7 – 12 and college by working directly with schools/colleges throughout the DC Metro area.

Accountability

The Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and has the autonomy to carry out their responsibilities within the framework of the Executive Director's plans and within the policies, standards and budget set forth by the STEM for Her Board of Directors. The Manager will coordinate with the Board Chair for Programs and Board Chair for Participant Engagement. Under the Chairs' guidance the manager will assist in committee and volunteer management for Programs and Participant Engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Develops, coordinates, implements and directs STEM for Her -sponsored programs and special events, including STEM for Her Day(s), Earth Day, Explore Biosciences Opportunities, Scholarships. Mentor Program and other ad hoc programs as assigned. Manages he implementation and operation for STEM for He r programming and customizes,
enriches and supplements programming as needed for different events and activities. Establishes and maintains relationships, and acts as the primary liaison, with under-resourced/underserved schools in the DC Metro Area and proactively seeks opportunities to engage them in STEM for Her 's work. Produces STEM for Her Day(s) to provide girls with an engaging experience with robust content. Specific responsibilities include assisting with event logistics, active school/student outreach + registration, speaker line-up, content development, volunteer management and event promotion. Manages STEM for Her 's scholarship program—awarding $100,000+ annually—from application development + promotion through awardee selection + notification. Provides guidance and resources to volunteers and other staff regarding STEM for Her 's program portfolio and special events. Manages occasional volunteers and other contract staff supporting programs and events. Works collaboratively with colleagues, Board members and volunteers to deploy internal resources and external sources to meet goals and outcomes that support STEM for Her 's strategic plan. Attend and represent STEM for Her at signature events and act as representative at external events/opportunities where STEM for Her has a presence. Example STEM for Her Elevate Her Gala, tabling at invited strategic events like sponsored Golf tournaments, and networking at invited opportunities.

Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required and 1-3 years managing complex events in education, programs or working in K-12 public school environment. Experience in program development and administration including direct delivery with youth and adults; ability to engage and manage groups of tweens/teens; excellent organizational skills; knowledge of project planning; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, often with conflicting timelines; budgeting, evaluation and data management. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including communicating complex information with clarity to diverse audiences and preparing and presenting reports and other written communication. Flexible schedule to include the ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends as necessary. An understanding of and commitment to the mission of STEM for Her . Self-starter, flexible with proactive approach to work and ability to work independently. Must live within 60 miles of Washington, DC. Some weekend and weeknight activity.
