Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a Senior Research Associate - Technical Assistance (TA) Lead to join our team of research professionals dedicated to advancing education outcomes for youth and the organizations that serve them. In this role, you will play a critical part in reducing chronic absenteeism by supporting state and local education agencies in implementing evidence-based practices. This position is contingent upon the award of the contract.

As a key member of our team, you will collaborate closely with project leadership and multidisciplinary teams to lead, develop, and manage training and TA activities on education-related topics. Your expertise will be instrumental in advising on best practices for TA and training, both within Westat and with external partners. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to initiatives focused on applying evidence-based practices to enhance educational outcomes for youth.

This is a full-time position with flexibility for remote or hybrid work arrangements.

Job Responsibilities

• Engage with a team to develop, and manage training and technical assistance activities, including peer to peer learning communities, resource inventory development, resource dissemination, online training and webinar development, meeting facilitation, product development, and individualized TA

• Direct, manage, and collaborate on the design and implementation of TA activities for diverse audiences, including policymakers, educators, education intermediaries, community-based organizations and other interested parties seeing to improve education outcomes for youth

• Apply knowledge of evidence based practices in education, counseling, child welfare, and student attendance, needs assessment, data-informed quality improvement, education and behavioral health policy, and strategic planning to manage remote and/or onsite technical assistance.

• Collaborate and coordinate with team members across Westat and TA partner organizations to develop and maintain project plans, communicate project status to internal and external teams, and support decision making and execution to meet project goals and timeline.

• Identify opportunities and manage the dissemination of TA resources and coordinate with other TA partners and organizations to make resources more widely available

• Contribute to knowledge and expertise in student engagement and absenteeism

• Participate in proposal writing and other business development activities (e.g., identify new business opportunities).

Basic Qualifications:

• A Master's degree in the social sciences or related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience is required.

• Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of a range of technical assistance and training activities

• Experience coaching and managing individuals or teams

• Content knowledge in education, counseling, child welfare, and student attendance, needs assessment, data-informed quality improvement, education and behavioral health policy, and strategic planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A strong background in education service delivery and evidence-based practices

• Experience with report writing and the development of plain language TA related products for multiple audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated communication skills.

• Organization skills, including time management ability.

• Detail oriented.
