We are hiring a Full-Time Community Outreach Coordinator

Position Overview

The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for all Public Relations and Community Outreach for ASARCO operations and The Discovery Center. They create strategic alliances with the local communities, schools, government authorities and other businesses and industries.

Essential Functions
  • Design and implement new outreach programs
  • Give continuity to the existing outreach programs
  • Coordinate the community outreach programs in the five ASARCO units
  • Supervise the AMDC Coordinator and plan on joint programs
  • Organize Community Outreach events for the company
  • Participate in events and activities with the community, other industries and government authorities to build strategic alliances
  • Work closely with the Grupo Mexico Community Outreach teams in Mexico and Peru
  • Support the Director of Environmental, Community and Government Affairs and the AMC
  • Work closely with and offer CO support to other areas at ASARCO
  • Write and proofread communications for items such as brochures, newsletters, and other internal and external publications
  • Develops and adjusts communication plan and strategies as needed
  • Publishes videos and photography and related content on company website
  • Work closely with the media
  • Any other duties as assigned
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Experienced in organizing special events, conferences, and trainings.
    • Skilled at setting priorities and maintaining organization.
    • Ability to delegate and follow up on delegation.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experienced in building positive and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of applicable computer tracking systems and databases.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, email, social media, photo, and video editing
    • Virtual meeting tools (WebEx, Teams, Skype)
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
    • Regular travel to other mine sites
      Required Education and Experience

      • Bachelor's degree in business management or similar with five years minimum experience in Community Outreach.
