Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with a strong background in upgrading Terraform to the latest version and refining Lambda functions for improved functionality. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing our cloud infrastructure and application performance, ensuring seamless integration and cost-efficiency. This role involves working closely with development teams, system administrators, and other engineers to enhance our AWS cloud environment and deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Review the existing Terraform setup in the application and identify dependencies and components requiring updates.

Upgrade Terraform to the latest version while ensuring compatibility with existing configurations.

Test and validate the upgraded Terraform setup in a staging environment and deploy the updated configuration to the development environment.

Evaluate and refine Lambda functions to improve functionality and efficiency.

Identify functional deficiencies in Lambda functions and refactor code to ensure accurate list creation.

Conduct thorough testing of refined Lambda functions with various scenarios and inputs, then deploy them to the development environment.

Optimize resource requirements by analyzing the existing Protein Folding State Machine project and understanding resource utilization patterns.

Develop a methodology to dynamically adjust resource requirements based on input length.

Implement configuration changes to enable flexible resource allocation and fine-tune parameters for optimal performance and cost efficiency.

Document the Terraform upgrade process, including modifications and potential challenges encountered.

Provide updated Terraform configuration files deployed to the production environment.

Deliver refined Lambda function code with documentation highlighting improvements and testing results.

Provide an optimized resource allocation strategy, including configuration changes and performance metrics.

Compile a final report summarizing project outcomes, recommendations for further enhancements, and additional findings.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience with AWS cloud services, including Lambda functions and Terraform.

Strong skills and experience in upgrading Terraform to the latest version and ensuring compatibility with existing configurations.

Experience in refining Lambda functions for improved functionality and efficiency.

Familiarity with dynamic resource allocation and optimization in cloud environments.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).

Experience with protein folding and scientific computing is highly preferable.
