Summary

Louis A. Johnson Veteran Affairs Medical Center (LAJVAMC) is a rural facility, serving acute care, behavioral health, community living center and primary care needs.



Duties

This is an open continuous posting.

Eligible applicants will be reviewed and referred to the hiring manager 2 weeks from the opening date, and then again every 2 weeks until all positions have been filled.

The Nursing Assistant is accountable for adhering to established policies and procedures and for providing safe and high quality patient care.

Duties include;

  • Provide a range of patient/resident care and contribute to the completion of the nurse care plan and recover of patients/residents
  • Observe patient /residents physical or emotional status and refer deviations in a timely manner
  • Measures and records vital signs, height and weight, intake and output
  • Perform ADL's (Activities of Daily Living)
  • Assist with specimen collection
  • Properly use equipment, materials and supplies in a simple diagnostic and treatment procedures
  • Recognizes responds, and initiates appropriate level response to medical emergency.
  • Documents in the computerized patient record system with other members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
  • The Nursing assistant demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide care and services consistent with Infection Control Practice providing optimal outcomes for patients, residents, visitors and employees.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 7:30am-8:00pm , 7:30am- 4:00pm Subject to needs of service.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
