This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Major Duties, The Float Pool nurse is responsible to but not limited to the following:
- Assess, plan implement, document and evaluate care to ensure a coordinated holistic approach which best meets the needs of the patient.
- Assist patients to achieve their optimum level of health in situations of normal health, illness injury or through the process of dying; Advocate the dignity and self-respect of patients.
- Promote the autonomy of patient and help them to express their health needs and values to obtain appropriative information and services.
- Perform laboratory patient testing and reporting as assigned.
- Collect appropriate specimens from patients.
- Performs pain assessments.
- Manages central and peripheral IV access and medications (to include IV push medications).
- Recognizes overt abnormal signs and symptoms or changes in patient's needs.
- Reports changes to the appropriate provider and documents effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.
Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
Work Schedule: Night Shift, 7:30p - 8:00a, 11:30p - 8:00a, hour & (1) 8 hour shift per pay period.
