Role: Sr. Database Admin

Location: Houston, Texas

Roles & Responsibilities :

The Database Administrator will play a crucial role, tasked with providing production support, monitoring, tackle, reviewing database queries and stored procedures, as well as scripting, maintaining, and tuning the performance of all databases. Additionally, familiarity with Windows administration is required, and active involvement in ongoing initiatives is encouraged. The successful candidate will exhibit a strong eagerness to learn new technologies and concepts, actively seeking opportunities to enhance value, improve efficiency, and boost productivity. Operating in a highly fast paced environment, the candidate will be empowered to deliver quality support. The role involves supporting highly critical applications 24x7 and adhering to stringent service levels.

  • Supervise and optimize the performance of application databases to meet performance and service level agreements. Participate in allocated DBA tasks, SQL & Oracle installation, upgrades, patching, backup and recovery, tuning, performance monitoring, day-to-day support, Support OS patching cycles. Configure and maintain database servers and processes.
  • Proactively monitor systems health and performance. Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security. Analyze, tackle, and accurate issues in real time. Provide suggestions for automation of routine tasks, audit support. Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes. Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement. Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
  • Solve and resolve Production incidents and participate in bridge calls in coordination with application support team in meeting the SLAs. Provide advice and mentorship on database technology for new business systems. Handle ongoing initiatives, including server and system upgrades and maintain currency. Work with internal teams and vendors to resolve production issues when required. Participate in disaster recovery (BCP) exercises.
  • Expertise in SQL Server & Oracle database administration. 5-10 years experience on Database administration. Solid experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO). Expertise in the installation and support of SQL Server in an enterprise environment. Good expertise in Windows server, including Active Directory. Solid grasp of SSRS SSIS SQL Agent C#.
  • Knowledge in one of the following RDBMS MySQL and DB2. Experience with backups, restores and recovery models High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server. Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on companys success. Teammate, Critical thinker and problem-solving skills. Good time-management skills, great interpersonal and communication skills.
