What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is hiring a Bridge Designer in the Nashville, TN office. This position independently works on a variety of design projects providing seasoned solutions to Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, Landscape Architects, and others.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs various assignments developing models and documents from outlines of objectives, requirements, and design approaches.
  • Obtains project information and ensures drawings are accurate and complete.
  • Plans presentations of complex items with design features that may differ from established standards.
  • Provides seasoned recommendations for solutions to design problems.
  • Communicates with clients pertaining to specific projects and attends client meetings.
  • Reviews and critiques drawings and provides a quality check on others' work.
  • Prepares cost and quantity estimates.
  • Performs design calculations.
  • May act as project specific lead for design work of others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Mentors less experienced designers and EITs and offers advice and knowledge.
  • Reviews work of others for quality purposes.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Two year degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting, Surveying or equivalent with 6 years relevant experience, or other relevant combination of education and/ or experience
  • Applies seasoned knowledge through progressive experience to resolve issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCad, Microstation, and other essential equipment for field and office work.
  • Provides resourcefulness and initiative to perform projects.
  • Timeliness & Quality of work and budget adherence.
  • Utilization rates align with goal. Proactively collaborates with Project Managers to meet goals set within Business Unit.
  • Embrace our Purpose, Vision, and Values.
  • Walk, sit, and stand. Occasionally reach with hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Occasionally climb 25-30 feet. Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. Visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/ numeric symbols and perform challenging computation and design.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively to project issues that arise.
