The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for designing and developing software for our next-generation molecular diagnostics systems. This person will be a key contributor in the software engineering team that leads development efforts for software for commercial products as well as in-house research.

This position is part of the Biochip R&D and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

· Design, prototype, implement, document and maintain software applications.

· Develop software driver modules and components for the larger application suite.

· Participate in cross-functional project teams with scientists, technical support, and other engineers to resolve software issues.

· Document software; write technical specifications for interfaces and testing

The essential requirements of the job include:

· BS or MS in Engineering with a specialization in Computer Science or related field with a Minimum 8+ years with BS, or + years with MS; of progressively responsible work experience in engineering.

· Experience in frontend UI development using JavaScript frameworks like Vue/React or backend API development with Python or similar languages

· Debugging and testing in a Linux environment.

· Working knowledge of REST API development and usage

· Familiarity with Docker for building and deployment

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

· Medical device or regulated industry experience

· Familiarity with JVM languages such as Kotlin

· DevOps experience, specifically CI/CD and Automated Testing

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in which you can work part-time at the Company location identified above and part-time remotely from your home. The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $175,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
