Our proven solutions catalyze locally driven, organizational, and institutional performance improvements and shift the development model into one that is bottom-up and ongoing. We leverage existing knowledge, new technologies, and innovative business models.

The Kaizen Company is seeking applications for a mid-level SAM Registration Training Consultant for the USAID-funded Partnerships Incubator, a five-year project that started in October 2019.

About the Partnerships Incubator

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) aims to diversify its partner base by removing barriers to engagement and creating avenues for new and underutilized partners to work with the Agency. The Partnerships Incubator was set up as a global service hub to address this need by amplifying USAID's external communications efforts to strengthen and diversify the Agency's partner base, expanding Agency capacity for partnerships, and supporting partner organizations working with USAID. The Partnerships Incubator works with USAID headquarters and Missions to identify and engage new and local partners, provide training and capacity-building assistance, and develop tools, resources, and models to advance USAID's partnership goals. The project recently launched , a free, USAID-funded resource hub designed to connect partners to peers and experts, improve their organizational readiness, and prepare them to receive USAID funding.

Position Overview

The Partnerships Incubator seeks to develop USAID-specific registration training and support materials aimed primarily at a non-U.S. partner audience, as well as create training-of-trainer materials for USAID Missions on registration. These materials will be shared on or through other Work with USAID channels operated by the Industry Liaison team within the Management Bureau's Office of Acquisition and Assistance (M/OAA). The goal is to provide materials that can enable USAID to better support new partners as they go through this process.

The consultant will bring deep expertise in the registration process and work with Incubator staff and preselected vendors to develop multimedia training materials. The anticipated training products include training videos on registration, live help sessions, live training-of-trainers sessions, and printable help documents.

Principal Responsibilities:

The SAM Registration Training Consultant will lead a team of selected design, videography, and translation vendors to develop a suite of training materials on the SAM/UEI registration process for use by USAID in several venues. The consultant will provide the technical content for the training materials and also conduct live training and help desk services for USAID staff and partners,, as described further below. The consultant will report to the Incubator activity manager.

  • Develop up to four engaging and informative registration walkthrough videos for a USAID partner audience. These will all be "variations" on the same video, just with steps added/removed for different types of partners.
  • Up to three live help sessions
  • Up to two live training-of-trainers sessions for Mission staff (same training but in different timezones)
  • Two help documents
    • Troubleshooting & Common Mistakes document
    • "Registration Steps" Checklist document

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the SAM/UEI registration process, ideally involving training or technical support to non-U.S. audience.
  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in communications, education, the humanities, international development, or related field.
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or sixteen years of experience and a Master's degree or 14 years of experience and a JD/ABA or 12 years of experience and a PhD.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing training materials in various media, including videos, virtual live training sessions, and printed informational materials
  • Experience designing and delivering training to adult multicultural audiences
  • Proven ability to lead teams of collaborating professionals
  • Proven ability to conduct live training and help sessions both in person and virtually.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels.
  • Superior writing and editing skills, with evidence of generating excellent outputs.
  • Be able to successfully serve on a fully teleworking team.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Comfortable with a project environment that appreciates initiative, collaboration, and an entrepreneurial mindset and behaviors.
  • Experience working in the USAID environment.
  • Values teamwork and collaboration and brings a results-oriented approach to training delivery.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, agile, and innovative environment.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in a non-English language, such as Spanish, French, or Arabic, is a plus.
  • Deep commitment to social impact.
  • Interest in USAID and its mission, as well as key issues in international development.

Qualified applicants should send a resume/CV with a well-written cover letter (let your writing skills shine - please delight us). Candidates that are elevated to the final interview stage will be required to provide the contact details of three references.
