At WHOOP we are on a mission to unlock human performance. WHOOP empowers its members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.

As a Lab Technician at WHOOP, you will play a key role in building prototypes, testing new product concepts, organizing and maintaining the engineering labs, and soldering/reworking PCBAs. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers to fabricate components, fixtures, and assemblies.

The ideal candidate is capable of both electrical and mechanical work and has excellent organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment. You must have a willingness to work hands on with microelectronics, cable assemblies, adhesives, and fixture assembly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Electrical rework and analysis of PCBAs and other components
  • Mechanical assembly of small, intricate components
  • Management of Electrical, Mechanical, and Automated Test labs
  • Part measurements - microscope, vision system (i.e. OGP), calipers
  • Electrical and mechanical product testing
  • Catalog parts and manage part inventory
  • Conduct and report on failure analysis for prototypes and consumer returns
  • Small scale manufacturing
  • Perform firmware updates
  • 3D printer maintenance and management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Electrical experience with reworking PCBAs, building wire harnesses, solder reflow, and replacing BGA and 0201 or smaller resistors & capacitors
  • Mechanical experience with prototype assembly, product testing, and 3D printing
  • Previous experience with building test circuit boards and test fixtures
  • Strong interest in consumer electronics, specifically health and fitness wearables.
  • Associate degree in an Engineering or Science field or a high school diploma with relevant experience

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
