  • Develop and refine strategies to strengthen the School's culture of philanthropy by providing education programs for and communications to the GPS community, specifically for students, faculty/staff, trustees, parents, grandparents, alumnae, and alumnae parents so that all community members understand the importance of giving.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing to maintain accurate and consistent messaging to both internal and external constituencies regarding GPS's mission, vision, values, accomplishments, and case for support.
  • Create the annual operating plan for development activities of GPS and oversee their execution to ensure achievement of the School's philanthropic revenue goals.
  • Oversee the ongoing identification, research, assignment, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all current and potential donors.
  • Continually seek new sources of philanthropic gifts, such as from new families or by reestablishing and strengthening relationships with alumnae and alumnae parents.
  • With the Director of Alumnae Relations, strengthen connections with alumnae and alumnae parents by developing multiple and varied avenues through which graduates and their families can engage with GPS and with each other.
  • With the Director of Special Events & Parent Engagement, foster a strong sense of community through special events and relationship building, and ensuring that all donors and volunteers feel valued and appreciated.
  • With the Director of Annual Giving, cultivate and implement a robust and ambitious plan to meet or exceed the goal for the annual fund.
  • Ensure all development volunteers are given clear expectations and the training and tools necessary to fulfill their role and support the school's fundraising goals.
  • Administer and monitor the Development budgets and policies (e.g., Gift Acceptance Policy, Events Policy.)
  • Maintain ongoing communication and an effective partnership with the business office.
  • Serve on the Administrative Team and staff the Advancement Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as determined by CAO and Head of School.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Leadership

  • A strategic and systems-oriented thinker who sees the "big picture" and possesses the organizational skills, attention to detail, follow through, and high standards for ethics and excellence necessary to balance the externally facing responsibilities of the Director of Development role with effective day-to-day management of the development effort.
  • An executive whose combination of gravitas, confidence, intellect, warmth, and genuine care for others allows him or her both to command an audience and to build and sustain individual relationships with a wide variety of constituents.
  • A team-oriented manager who sets clear goals, delegates to and empowers staff and volunteers, generates a sense of ownership, and maintains ultimate accountability for success.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
