Summary

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

The duties of the position include, but are NOT limited to:

  • Develops and implements appropriate policies and procedures; oversees and assures facility. compliance with USP Chapters 795, 797, and 800 and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Directs and oversees activities of all assigned operational, technical and professional personnel, with a particular emphasis on assuring that all USP Chapter 795, 797 and 800 CSP compliance requirements are met in Compounding and Hazardous Drug Management due to their inherent high-risk status in regard to the care of our patients.
  • Monitors activities of all personnel involved with compounding to ensure compliance with USP Chapters 795, 797, and 800 and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Assists in data collection for MUE and participates in quality assurance.
  • Acts as a liaison between Pharmacy Service and other health care providers.
  • Coordinates quality assurance monitoring and evaluation involved with compounded sterile preparation and hazardous drug management operations.
  • Ensures the competency of Pharmacy personnel in the preparation of and handling of CSPs through initial, competency assessments, annual training and standard testing within established timeframes.
  • Develops educational initiatives and provides education and training of all pharmacy service trainees and employees specific to CSP, non-sterile compounding, and hazardous drug management processes.
  • Maintains environmental control of the compounding areas and cleanroom primary and secondary engineering controls and ensures they meet environmental standards and validation requirements for viable and non-viable airborne sampling and testing.
  • Provides education and training of all trainees and employees specific to CSP and Hazardous Drug Management processes. This includes, but is not limited to, operational processes, quality assurance, documentation, performance improvement, observation, and all other aspects of CSP and Hazardous Drug Management.
  • Conducts direct patient-care activities that are performed with the efficiency and depth of an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist and IV Room Pharmacist.
  • Manages patients through chart review, rounding and order processing as requested by providers and provide pharmaceutical care to patients referred to specific pharmacy care services.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
