Pricing and monetization have critical impacts on the health of our business. The Machine Learning Science team is building scalable and robust solutions to enable pricing as a lever to optimize business performance. The system should be steered based on desired outputs, such as a given tradeoff between volume and profit. Our work directly decides prices across different lines of business, influencing multi–billion dollar revenue. Our challenges include setting up the optimal travel package price, deciding platform fees to meet travelers, partners and platform separate needs.

As a Senior Manager of Machine Learning Science, you will manage a team and collaborate with a strong team of engineers, product managers, operations and analytics. You will be deeply involved in the technical details of building machine learning and data science solutions to optimize business performance. As a leader in Machine Learning Science, you will set best practices, architect solutions, design processes and manage a highly skilled team that continues to grow. You will also contribute to an area of active research: causal inference using machine learning methods, stochastic optimization, ML–based demand estimation, experiment design and analysis.

What you will do:

Manage a team of Machine Learning Scientists to deliver scalable and robust machine learning and data science solutions to pricing and monetization

Architect solutions, review models and provide necessary technical guidance

Dissect business problems into digestible solutions

Follow company strategic directions and align with stakeholders on goals and roadmaps

Set the team vision, design roadmap and manage the execution to deliver outstanding results

Hire, mentor and grow the team

Collaborate with other machine learning, data science and data engineering teams to build a great data culture in EG

Who you are:

7+ years industry experience and an advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics or equivalent quantitative fields

4+ years of management experience in developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact

Demonstrated ability to create and drive technical and impactful roadmaps for the business and lead seamless execution of it

Passion for management and creating opportunities for career growth for team members

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to cross functional partners of varying technical levels

Understanding of modern machine learning and data science techniques and their mathematical underpinning

Proficiency in one of the tools such as Python, R, Scala, etc

Experience with big data ecosystem (Hadoop/Spark)

Experience in pricing is a plus

Experience with large scale marketplace experiment design and analysis is a plus

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $173,000.00 to $242, Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
