Duties

Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday 11:30 am - 8:00 pm

Work schedule may require some overtime.

Must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/CCR) and skilled in the use of the Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED). Your certification/documentation must be uploaded.

The individual selected for this position will:

Provides individualized massage therapy services and treatments that meet the clients' needs and expectations.

Administer programs in exercise, general nutrition, stress management, and other preventive health issues according to evidence-based principles to clients of the SSH&FF.

Administer and track approximately client records of the Senate Health and Fitness Facility. This includes processing client's membership agreement; entering client's name into the data base for tracking monthly payments; and establishing a log-in account.

Lead group exercises in groups and one-on-one settings.

Provide activities to enhance the health, physical fitness and restoration to members of SSH&FF, including yoga, Pilates, general aerobic strength, and balance development.

Instruct clients of the SSH&FF in the proper use of the various equipment and facilities, such as treadmills, electronic and computer programmed stationary cycles, stair stepping machines, elliptical step machines, rowing machines, various modes of strength training machines, and other fitness devices as appropriate.

Conduct health and physical fitness assessments prior to developing an individual exercise plan, as appropriate. Assessments may include but are not limited to: cardiovascular exercise capacity, blood pressure evaluation during rest and exercise, pulse rate during rest and exercise, body composition analysis, measures of strength, balance, mobility, flexibility, posture, and functional capacity.

Maintain a library of journals, pamphlets and other effective appropriate mediums regarding preventive health for the members.

Administer basic life support (i.e., CPR/CCR, AED) and first aid as is necessary. Comply with all safety procedures for equipment utilized.

Update the data base and client's membership information as needed. Maintain all client's files and folders in a secure locked safe. Cancel membership agreements when directed by the client.

Performs other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications

      You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement.       Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

      Candidates for the GS-11 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.

      Specialized experience is defined as having all of the following:

      1.) Experience and Credentialed with the NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork).

      2.) Experience and Credentialed in providing personal training; i.e., cardiovascular conditioning, strength conditioning, mobility and balance.

      3.) Experience establishing new and maintaining individual membership accounts utilizing electronic and hard copy records, tracking memberships monthly, billing client accounts bi-monthly, canceling memberships monthly utilizing software programs such as Healthcalc, EZFacility, Mind Body, , ASF payment solution, excel, etc.

      4.) Experience and credentialed in teaching yoga and group exercise classes; e.g., Pilates, Yoga, Intermediate Yoga, Cardio Kick Boxing, Body Sculpt / Core, Pilates Fusion, Interval, Stations, Boot Camp, H.I.I.T., Zumba, Total Body Circuit, TRX and Kettle Bells.

      Education

      There is no educational requirement for this position.

      A bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Health Science, Physical Education, or related field is desired.
