The Role
The Data Center Technician is a foundational service role within Proofpoint. The delivery of our suite of products starts with the successful deployment of hardware this role is responsible for.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day intake and movement of server and network hardware into and out of, the Data Center as well as performing trouble-shooting and break-fix tasks.
Your day-to-day
- Racking and mounting hardware within designated racks- 65+ pounds
- Cabling racked hardware to network and security equipment
- Provisioning hardware and entering equipment into a Configuration Management Tool and updating inventory Rack Elevations
- Decommission hardware and perform eWaste/recycling operations
- On-going troubleshooting and break-fix tasks
- Capacity planning for intake and placement of devices
- Perform shipping and receiving activities
- Asset and spares management
What you bring to the team
- Network certification and or prior experience with network devices and network concepts
- Understanding of Data Center power distribution and Data Center architectures & concepts
- Curiosity and the desire to learn
- Self-motivation and strong team player mentality

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets as set out below. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable pay and/or equity. We offer a competitive benefits package that includes flexible time off, a robust well-being program that provides for 4 global wellbeing days per year, and a 3-week work from anywhere option.

Base Pay Range: 93, ,290.00 USD
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:
Base Pay Range: 74, ,150.00 USD
All other cities and states excluding those listed above:
Base Pay Range: 66, ,720.00 USD
