Objective & Purpose

SAP is seeking a Tax Specialist to join the US Indirect Tax Team within SAP Global Tax. The Specialist is responsible for US sales, use, and various tax compliance for US SAP companies and all related accounting. We are seeking a detail-oriented tax professional interested in developing an expertise in indirect taxes for software, cloud, and software-related services, including the challenges resulting from evolving tax law, new business models, and a dynamic and demanding work environment in a growth organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales, use, gross receipts, business licenses and miscellaneous monthly tax compliance, including resolution of tax notices through written and verbal communications with State and Local tax representatives
  • Completion of new tax registrations and tax account closures
  • Validation of customer tax exemptions and entering of customer exemptions in Vertex
  • Review and processing of monthly use tax accruals on company purchases
  • Support and resolve internal inquiries from O2I, P2P, A/R/Cash/Collections, Sales, etc.
  • Preparation of account analysis and completion of various accounting tasks
  • Tax audit support, e.g., retrieval and assembling of contracts, invoices, and sales journals
  • Support projects and implement new processes and controls in response to changes in the business environment, as assigned
  • Gain expertise in the niche industry of US Sales Taxes and master working with a global team of professionals and various taxing authorities.

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • One to three years of functional experience desired
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • Fluency in English with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
  • Aptitude to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Positive, strong work ethic, and a team player
  • Enthusiastic commitment to work and build Indirect Tax knowledge in a large, multinational company, constantly evolving in a sophisticated industry
  • Microsoft Office skills, Intermediate to Advanced Excel required
  • Working knowledge of SAP Financial Processes and Systems
  • CPA, Vertex O Series and Microsoft Access skills a plus

SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is USD) USD.
