The Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSOM) seeks the next Chair for the Department of Urology, who will be responsible for developing strategies to advance the clinical, research, education, and diversity missions of the Department, while also contributing to a unique School of Medicine that serves as the academic core for the largest academic learning health system in the nation, Advocate Health.
On the heels of the appointment of a new medical school Dean and health system President, this Chair of Urology will be charged with developing, scaling, and innovating the Department's research and education programs, while optimizing care delivery and clinical operations in an increasingly complex environment.
The new Chair for the Winston-Salem market will work closely with high-performing clinical leaders, faculty, and staff to embrace the many strengths of this Department, while further elevating the national, academic profile of this program and articulating a contemporary vision for this program.
This individual will work collaboratively across a School of Medicine with two campuses while promoting enterprise-wide strategic objectives and embodying a new vision for "One School, One Mission, Growing Community, Global Impact.

The WFUSOM Department of Urology, Winston-Salem offers an unsurpassed, nationally recognized high standard of education, research, clinical care, and innovation– fostering a supportive, close-knit relationship among faculty, residents, and students.
The Department is comprised of 30 surgeons providing the complete spectrum of adult and pediatric urologic services for several thousand hospital admissions and approximately 85,000 outpatient visits annually.
Recognized as one of the most elite and prolific research departments in the country, the Department of Urology conducts a wide variety of translational research activities spanning basic science and clinical and population projects with funds from government, foundation, and industry sponsors in addition to robust internal support.
With a long-standing tradition of excellence in training medical professionals, WFUSOM offers a six-year ACGME-accredited Urology Residency Program and has three fellowship programs to provide comprehensive and cutting-edge clinical, research, teaching, and leadership experiences.
Reporting to Dr. L. Ebony Boulware, Dean, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and Dr.David Zaas, President, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, the Chair will advance the research, education, clinical, innovation, and community engagement missions of the department.
The Chair of Urology will leverage significant resources and institutional dedication to elevate its recognition as one of the best urology programs in the country.
The Chair will also demonstrate a commitment to promoting an academic and clinical culture that prizes health equity for communities served by WFUSOM and a commitment to providing a just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment for the Department.
