Auto Claims Supervisor

Summary:
This position is responsible for supervising and training the Claims Department auto claim representatives who handle personal and commercial auto lines and handling settlement of casualty claims for all lines with settlement authority up to $40,000.
Functions:
- Handle complex casualty claims according to company guidelines and in compliance with the Unfair Claims Practices Act.
- Supervise auto physical damage only claim representatives.
- Verify policy coverage on assigned casualty claims.
- Evaluate casualty claims for proper settlement.
- Negotiate with claimant carriers, insureds and attorneys when necessary.
- Assign new auto losses with assistance from Casualty Claim Manager & Casualty Claim Supervisor.
- Communicate with Casualty Claim Manager when assistance is necessary.
- Notify Casualty Claim Manager of all claims that exceed settlement authority of $40,000.
- Establish and maintain proper documentation on assigned claims.
- Report claims complaints to Casualty Claims Manager.
- Attend claims seminars and insurance related meetings; participate in claims associations.
- Assist Casualty Claim Supervisor & Casualty Claim Manager with developing workflow solutions for auto claims.
- Refer potential fraud claims to SIU Manager.
- Assist Casualty Claims Manager in training and educating Auto Claims Representatives.
- Teach basic insurance coverages and terminology to entry level Auto Claims Representatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Claims Manager/VP.
- College education preferred.
- Five years' Property and Casualty claims experience preferred.
- Texas all lines adjuster license, or the ability to obtain a Texas all lines adjuster license, required.
- Ability to supervise employees and coordinate work processes required.
- Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance coverages and terms preferred.
- Ability to learn the coverages of all insurance policies written by the company required.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills required.
- Ability to work effectively with company computer systems required.
- Involvement in insurance-related seminars and continuing education preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, travel to all organization offices (including in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Dakota) and travel to vendor work sites required.
- Ability to work in an office environment with moderate noise level, remain in a stationary position and operate a computer a majority of the time required.
- Ability to move throughout the office to access work materials and to move work materials weighing up to ten pounds daily required.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation required.
