As a Scientist II in our Purilogics business unit at Donaldson Company, you will play a part in creating and testing products that impact lives and join a collaborative team of scientists on the cutting-edge of biologics purification technology. Our work focuses on the fundamental physical and chemical principles that drive membrane chromatography performance. You will be tasked with using your problem solving and idea generation skills through new product research and development studies. This includes active involvement and support to research, prepare, and execute experimentation to develop membrane chromatography columns for biologics purification applications.

Role Responsibilities:

• Participate in the production of our Research Use Only membrane chromatography products
• Play a leading role in the formulation, development, and optimization of new products, designs, and prototypes
• Execute Standard Operating Procedures and keep detailed, organized records to complete the required quality documentation
• Perform a variety of routine laboratory tasks and conduct chemistry experiments independently
• Be involved in big picture project planning, execute experiments independently
• Independently design experiments with the right controls to obtain meaningful and clear conclusions
• Collaborate with Pilot Manufacturing team to scale up processes
• Coordinate with Downstream Processing team for validation results and be able to interpret data to formulate next steps
• Develop hypothesis and be proactive in investigating/verifying hypothesis
• Maintain a clean and safe lab work environment

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science and Engineering, or similar disciplines
• 5 years related professional experience, wet lab chemistry experience specifically for 2 years
• Knowledge of organic chemistry principles and methods with the ability to interpret results and an ability to communicate effectively
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizational and functional boundaries

Preferred Qualification:

• Ability to follow product development processes
• Experience in biochemistry and ligand functionalization or chromatography
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, both scientifically and in the ability to prioritize tasks, set deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated by publication of research papers and presentations
