Organization Overview

The Rockefeller University Hospital is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has 20 patient beds for clinical research. The Hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies and offers both normal volunteers and people with diseases under study the opportunity to stay in the hospital and help to contribute to important advances in science. The Hospital has an inpatient unit as well as an outpatient center where prospective patients are screened,and many outpatient studies are conducted. The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day with professional nurses and has nutritional research,social work,art and recreation departments,and a radiology suite,as well as its own research pharmacy. Overview

The Hospital Facilities Specialist works directly with University departments to monitor, track, and respond to all elements related to the Hospital's Environment of Care (EOC) program, which includes and not limited to the safety, security, utilities, medical equipment, emergency management, life safety, hazardous waste management, construction, and renovation within the hospital.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Leads the Hospital Environment of Care Program, including serving as chair of the Environment of Care Committee, an interdepartmental committee that oversees the Hospital's EOC program, including scheduling meetings, drafting agenda and information monitoring tables, writing meeting minutes, and tracking follow-up;
  • Works directly with RU Plant Operations to maintain the Hospital's physical environment, including two patient care floors, radiology suite, and several specialized clinical spaces through both daily maintenance and scheduled projects with focus on patient safety;
  • Serves as Hospital Project Manager for all construction and renovation projects, including campus projects that have a direct impact on patient care activities and hospital operations, and serves as Hospital representative, which helps maintain compliance with OSHA, Department of Health, and other regulatory agencies;
  • Be part of the University and Hospital Command Center structure for emergency management including scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, and reviewing required drills. Manages the medical equipment program, including maintaining the physical inventory, ensuring preventative maintenance is performed, purchasing new equipment, and keeping all related documentation current;
  • Maintains all Hospital-related storage areas;
  • Develops, revises, and maintains program-related policies and procedures, including annual review of the Hospital's Emergency Operations Plan;
  • Assures continuous quality improvement by measuring program statistics to assess effectiveness in minimizing adverse effects and optimizing improvement opportunities necessary for providing a safe patient environment;
  • Additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Position requirements include:

Associates Degree in technical or engineering field required

Two to four years' of facilities maintenance management experience in a hospital setting required
Ability to thrive in a high paced, complex team environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products and other teleconferencing solutions (i.e. Zoom, WebEx, etc.)

Preferred qualifications include:

Bachelor's degree preferred

Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) and Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
Knowledge of OSHA and TJC regulations
Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written skills as well as the ability to translate verbal instructions into action

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
