Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Lead Endoscopy Technician, you will assist the surgery and endoscopy departments and providers through case preparation, procedural assistance, and equipment setup and cleaning. You will also order, stock, and oversee supplies related to the endoscopy department. You will precept and train Endoscopy Technicians who participate in case coverage and on-call.

  • You will provide training and orientation to new staff
  • You will maintain sufficient inventory of all equipment and supplies, and restock the endoscopy suite and overflow supply cart as necessary
  • You will be knowledgeable of setup, operation, and troubleshooting of endoscopy equipment, monitors, and ancillary devices
  • You will set up equipment and supplies needed for scheduled procedures
  • You will review the daily procedural schedule to ensure availability of equipment, supplies and medications for each procedure
  • You will prepare and transport equipment to assist with procedures
  • You will make sure documentation on pre-procedure checklists are complete, informed consent is documented, and physician has been notified of any condition which may affect the procedure
  • You will assist with positioning patients for endoscopy using safe and proper technique
  • You will assist with direct patient care activities such as scrubbing endoscopy cases
  • You will participate in specimen collection, including proper handling, labeling, transporting, and submitting to pathology
  • You will perform endoscope cleaning, monitor cleaning, and cart drawer cleaning
  • You will report malfunctioning equipment, and check all equipment daily for proper functioning
What qualifications you will need:

Experience

  • 4 years of experience in advanced endoscopy, surgery, or certification as a Surgical Technician

Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
  • SGNA certification – preferred
