We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Director to lead the continued development and implementation of the Toward Sustainable Mining (TSM) standards, elements, and processes.

The Sustainability Director will work collaboratively across departments to ensure these standards are integrated into our policies, processes, and culture.

This role also involves supporting external communications and reporting on our sustainability and ESG goals.

Key Responsibilities:

TSM Implementation:
Lead the development and implementation of TSM standards within the organization. Work with various departments to integrate these standards into their operations.

Sustainability/ESG Programs:

Develop and oversee sustainability and ESG programs in alignment with industry standards such as GRI Community and UN Global Compact.

Ensure these programs are appropriate for the company's stage of development.

Subject Matter Expert:

Act as the subject matter expert for sustainability within the company, supporting the EHS Committee and the Senior VP of Engineering & Operations.


External Stakeholder Liaison:

Serve as the company liaison with external stakeholders on sustainability programs, health & safety, environmental results, and community relations.


Communication and Reporting:
Assist Sales & Marketing, Communications, and Investor Relations in reporting sustainability goals and performance. Develop and maintain the EHSS section of the website, produce the annual Sustainability Report, and update investor presentations.

Health & Safety Leadership:
Promote a vision and strategy for health and safety from construction to start-up operations. Ensure best-in-class health and safety management systems and an open work environment.

Environmental Stewardship:
Commit to sustainable development practices and oversee the permitting process. Develop plans to minimize emissions and conserve water.

Community Relations:
Build effective relationships with local community leaders and indigenous peoples. Develop programs that enhance local residents' opportunities and support local activities.

Broader Sustainability Topics:
Address broader ESG topics such as HR, Corporate Governance, IT security, and Supply Chain. Work with VP-level leaders to understand external reporting needs and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in earth sciences, environmental or public policy, or a related field.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in mining or process operations, with expertise in environmental, safety, and community relations.
  • Proven track record of improving environmental and safety performance and community relations.
  • Experience with sustainable mining programs and broader ESG concepts.
  • Excellent presentation and computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite.
