Summary

The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience working in emergency management, operational planning, and building partnerships across organizations, with specific experience in the Pacific Region. The position will perform emergency management work including managing, coordinating, and executing federal emergency all-hazards preparedness activities related to climate change and equity for FEMA Region 9 in the Central Northern Mariana Islands office.



Duties

What will I do in this position if hired?

IIn this position, you will serve as the Emergency Management Specialist within Region 9. Typical assignments include:

  • Identifying and assessing climate and equity risk; estimating capability requirements; building and sustaining capabilities; planning and validating deliver capabilities; review and update plans, capabilities, and resources to ensure relevance.
  • Supporting the implementation of FEMA's Recovery Programs, including housing strategies, cost recovery planning, debris planning, and ensuring appropriate implementation.
  • Providing coordination support for emergency response and preparedness training.
  • Conducting mission-oriented analysis of survivor-centric emergency response and assistance issues for operational planning and building response partners.
  • Preparing informational briefings for senior officials and coordinate FEMA messaging to support and share real-time, accurate information and increase efficiency.

All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
