Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Mfg Equipment Maintenance Technician I. As an Engineering role located in Detroit, you will have the unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a global scale.

Shift Information: Monday - Friday from 3:00pm - 11:30pm ET; overtime may be required. Must be open to working weekends when required.

Starting pay is $36.29/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Support site operations to ensure products are produced, tested, and released to our customers on time and in full.
  • Maintain facilities and applicable equipment to meet safety, quality, and cost expectations.
  • Assess, identify, and resolve issues with complex equipment and machinery, employing problem-solving abilities.
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Assist in the installation and removal of equipment and perform corrective maintenance.
  • Design and implement preventative maintenance plans for new and existing equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, pumps, motors, and valves.
  • Perform calibration tasks on applicable equipment.
  • Rig and install small equipment.
  • Install and repair gear boxes, conveyors, mechanical components, piping, tubing, and hoses.
  • Weld and fabricate.
  • Perform building and facility maintenance tasks including Heating and Cooling, Carpentry, Pest control, Plumbing, and Painting.
  • Apply the site's maintenance management system and other communication tools to document maintenance performed on-site.
  • Identify and order parts required for corrective or preventative maintenance.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and pallet jacks.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or, equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting, or related field.
  • Experience in a cGMP environment preferred
