Purpose of This Position

The purpose of this role is to ensure that retailers comprehend the significance of the tobacco category for their business, its role in driving sales of other categories, and the opportunities that tobacco presents for their business.

Areas of Responsibility:

Route Planning & Execution Planning

- Actively participate in setting all respective territory objectives in line with market priorities.

- Decide the best locations for driving individual activities and which activities should be carried out in Outlets.

- Organize spaces for effective communication with the customer to ensure dedicated time for business presentations.

- Apply "JTI customer prioritization" to settle visit frequency during planning and integrate proactive plans for increased visits with key customers.

- Plan calls based on sales data (market and outlet) and an understanding of customer needs.

Strategic Insights & Business Advice

- Analyze factual data from the respective territory to bolster local knowledge and pinpoint opportunities for future planning.

- Assess JTI objectives' performance to aid future planning.

- Capture total category sales data and analyze competitors' performance to uncover opportunities for JTI.

- Optimally supervise competitor, retailer, and all category activities (not just the Tobacco category) in-store.

- Collect pricing information for the Tobacco Category.

- Provide regular updates to prioritized customers on the overall tobacco performance and propose opportunities for mutual growth.

- Strategically apply business information (JTI and retailer) to improve selling points.

- Collaborate with outlets, advising them on how to capitalize on the presence of tobacco consumers throughout the store.

- Educate and sway outlets on the optimal management of the tobacco category.

Negotiation & Selling Process (Triple Win)

  • Negotiates autonomously sell in / out contracts to the benefit of JTI in the respective territory.
  • Reduces or rewards autonomously payment to outlet based on contract compliance. Uses data to inform outlet on performance versus contract agreements.
  • Checks compliance standards versus contractual agreements.
  • Ensures recommended selling price points of JTI products are correct.
  • Proactively uses category based arguments to drive retailer and JTI business and satisfy the tobacco consumer.
  • Proactively predicts, plans and handles objections as a way to ask probing questions and establish understanding advise for a better close.
  • Ensures the required and appropriate tobacco assortment are listed.

Logistics

  • Merchandises stock if required and uses business tools to highlight and educate the impact to business of availability issues.
  • Trains store staff to order stock correctly for themselves.
  • Influences the ordering of JTI Product.

Performance

  • Assess objective achievement and feeds back to the business for potential improvement.
  • Records results versus objectives in TME or similar systems.

  • Experience in FMCG sales, ideally in Tobacco industry.
  • Computer Proficiency (Office suite).
  • Advanced commercial understanding.
  • Advanced negotiation skills.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Advanced selling skills (Triple win approach).
  • Advanced category management knowledge.
