The Senior Director, Digital Learning leads the Digital Learning Team to manage and implement PAEA's digital learning strategy. This position works closely with the Event Programming Team and other stakeholders across the association to align the digital learning ecosystem with PAEA's mission and strategic plan. The Senior Director oversees the development and delivery of a robust catalog of online learning experiences and resources, including a library of online courses, microlearning modules, webinars, podcasts, and other programs or resources aimed toward the ongoing professional development of faculty and staff at PA programs.

The Senior Director collaborates with all PAEA departments and the Digital Learning Steering Committee to develop learning paths, learning experiences, and digital resources that address the diverse needs of PA program faculty and staff. They are responsible for overseeing PAEA's digital learning ecosystem, the digital learning development process, evaluating the quality of programming, and continuously improving the digital learning experience.

This position has direct oversight of the Digital Learning Team and is a remote position with the option for an in-office presence in PAEA's Washington, DC headquarters. Periodic travel is required for PAEA meetings and events.

Because this position may be exposed to sensitive and confidential information on a daily basis, this individual is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality that knowledge of such warrants.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Works with the larger Learning Department (including the Event Programming Team) to implement PAEA's vision for member learning and development programming.
  • Oversees and implements PAEA's digital learning strategy.
  • Develops and manages the digital learning budget, ensuring that the revenue and expense goals are met and budgeting for required software and staffing levels. Identify strategies and opportunities to monetize digital learning content while maintaining high quality and value to members.
  • Oversees and actively manages PAEA's entire digital learning ecosystem, including the LMS and other platforms. Provides an annual review of the existing systems and instructional design methods used, and updates/replaces software as needed.
  • Identifies and manages strategies to drive member engagement with the digital learning ecosystem.
  • Develops, plans, and executes an ongoing CME webinar strategy, working with other staff and volunteer SMEs to deliver relevant, timely content.
  • Oversees the ongoing production of PAEA's podcasts, including identifying topics and speakers, and working with our outsourced production company to publish episodes on schedule.
  • Oversees the design, delivery, and management of online courses, microlearning, and other digital programming, working closely with instructional designers to identify and prioritize projects and approaches to development.
  • Works with the Digital Learning Steering Committee to develop an engaging digital learning portfolio that is aligned with member needs and PAEA's strategic direction.
  • Collaborates with the Event Programming Team to ensure digital and technology alignment and support with in-person event programming.
  • Works with the Manager, Digital Learning & CME to administer CME for the entire organization and all programs, ensuring compliance with CME accreditation.
  • Collaborates with Communications, Membership, and other key areas to ensure that digital learning experiences and programs are effectively communicated to members.
  • Advises the Chief Operating Officer and other members of executive leadership on issues related to digital learning.
  • Supervise and effectively manage staff on the Digital Learning Team, providing ongoing direction and development.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or related field and 7 years relevant experience OR 10+ years' relevant experience in associations, learning, and/or professional development contexts.
  • Experience using, managing, and overseeing learning management systems and learning experience platforms.
  • Expertise and experience in developing and executing synchronous and asynchronous webinars, podcasts, modules, and other programs for adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into impact.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and running projects, including project planning, management, and budgeting.
  • Must have supervisory experience, including a demonstrated ability to delegate and provide verbal and written feedback.
  • Excellent skills in problem-solving, interpersonal communication, writing/editing, planning, organization, time management, productivity, efficiency, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to effectively mentor, train, educate, and support colleagues within the same or similar professional level. The ideal candidate will demonstrate skills in fostering growth, providing guidance, and facilitating knowledge exchange among peers.
Preferred
  • Master's degree
  • Experience working with and leveraging subject matter expertise on volunteer committees.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other customer relationship management systems.

  • Create a Digital Learning Steering Committee and partner with the committee to identify digital learning needs and identify opportunities to drive digital engagement.
  • Oversee the development of 3 online courses.

This position is largely sedentary in nature, however, one must possess the ability to speak, hear, and write as well as the ability to use a computer and related software programs.
