We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer / Android Developer with a passion for building native Android applications that focus on a frictionless customer experience. You will be a part of the GEICO | BoatUS IT team supporting the BoatUS and Red Craft Android apps, available in the Google Play Store, with the option to support various backend services which power the in-app experience. You will be working in a business environment with a wide variety of teams including other engineering teams and department stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent education or work experience
  • 2+ years of Android development experience
  • Able to edit code and build native Android apps using Java & Kotlin
  • Proficient use of Android Studio and Gradle
  • Broad understanding of user experience in Android applications, MVC & MVVM design patterns, GIT, REST APIs
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills to be able to focus on multiple tasks and projects at once
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail is required
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with tracking project work through Azure Dev Ops or similar AGILE technologies

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge or experience with C# and SQL
  • Knowledge or practice of UX design
  • Interest in mobile app trends & best practices
