What's the Role?

As an R&D Scientist II, you will provide analytical support to ensure the continued success of our existing products and you will contribute to the scientific development of innovative and high-quality consumer brands and ingredients. You will be responsible for testing of analytical samples on various laboratory equipment, as well as interpreting experiment results and reporting key takeaways to the team.

What you'll do:

· Perform routine and non-routine analytical characterization of in-process samples, raw materials, dietary supplements, and other consumer brands using HPLC-UV and HPLC-MS. Other instrumentation utilized includes Karl Fisher, GC-MS, and GC-FID.

· Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods as needed.

· Schedule and/or perform preventative maintenance and operation qualification procedures for HPLC and other laboratory equipment.

· Troubleshoot instrumentation and perform or coordinate repairs as needed.

· Assist in new product development and new ingredient characterization projects.

· Design experiments and manage project tasks with minimal guidance from a manager.

· Author and review technical workplans, reports, methods, and SOPs.

· Communicate technical results through presentations to peers and management

· Address complex technical challenges using independent thought and expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.

· Ensure quality control & comply with good laboratory practices and GMPs.

What we need from you:

· Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related discipline with 5+ years of industry laboratory experience, preferably in food, dietary supplements, or natural products.

· 3+ yrs of HPLC experience required, including method development/validation & maintenance

· 1+ yrs of HPLC-MS experience strongly preferred.

· 1+ yrs of GC-FID and GC-FID preferred.

· Solid software knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).

· A deep scientific curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a great attitude.

Job Conditions:

· Must be able to perform routine tasks repeatedly, efficiently, and accurately in a timely manner, as well as occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

· Must be able to work in a laboratory setting for extended periods and function safely and effectively under the environmental challenges associated with handling raw materials or fine chemicals (exposure to carcinogens, corrosives, and other chemicals).

Salary Range: $65-80k
