The primary purpose of this position is to plan and conduct classroom, laboratory, and/or field instruction sessions using the lesson plan as a guide.

Responsibilities Conducts classroom, laboratory or field instruction for Security Forces courses. Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance. As an instructor, maintains, updates or develops training materials specific to assigned courses. Counsels students to identify and help resolve problems. Accomplishes special projects/additional duties.

Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712+ IOR.


BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

THIS IS A CCAF POSITION For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e., all teachers must hold at least an associate degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.

Applying a working knowledge of a range of security forces policies, procedures, and practices related to the resources and training functions.

Providing knowledge of overall security forces missions, functions, structure, and safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

OR EDUCATION:

Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D., with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.

TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.


NOTE:

Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs, including the skill and ability to demonstrate operation, maintenance, and combat employment of all weapons used in the course of instruction.

Specialized knowledge of Security and Law Enforcement. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives. Skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects. Knowledge of training resources programs, principles, and policies. Must be able to project voice in outdoor areas and be heard by 100 plus trainees.

Must qualify and maintain qualification with an M-9 pistol, M-16 rifle, M-203 Grenade Launcher, M-249 Machine Gun, M-60 Machine Gun, and M-67 Hand Grenade IAW Air Force Qualification Course (AFQT).

Employee must have the physical stamina to endure long periods of standing and ability to speak clearly without speech impediment.


PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.


VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:

Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If position has a positive degree requirement or education forms the basis for qualifications, you MUST submit transcripts with the application.
